This book begins with a nine page letter Woody wrote to his
new-born niece, Mary Ann, to congratulate her on coming into the world and to
offer some advice, reproduced exactly as Woody wrote it. It also includes rare
letters and memorabilia of Woody's time in Pampa, Texas, where Woody lived and
began writing songs. Thelma Bray is chairperson of Pampa's Tribute to Woody
Guthrie, an organization that is helping to create a Woody Guthrie Folk Music
Center at Harris Drug Store, where Woody worked.
