The Middletown Artists Coop presents an exhibition by Farrell Moose
"From God's Country to Boys Dreaming"

The Middletown Artists Coop (aka NEAC) in Middletown is celebrating its inaugural art exhibit with a special installation of the work by acclaimed artist Farrell V. Moose beginning on Tuesday, February 5th 2008 at MAC650, an Artspace, located at 650 Main Street.

Moose is a renowned, young American artist that was commissioned by the Woody Guthrie Foundation in 2005 to create a series of paintings inspired by Guthrie's lyrics. Entitled God's Country, these impressive paintings stand at six feet tall and five feet wide, they represent vast landscapes and textures, all elements of Farrell's commitment to media and materiality. Using dense oil paints, Moose creates a vivid aesthetic with rich colors and expanding vision. These and new works from the Boys Dreaming series will be on display and for sale during the month of February at the MAC 650 Artspace . Moose will be in residence at MAC during the exhibition run and will be available to meet with prospective or interested parties. For the opening of the Moose exhibit on Tuesday, February 5 th 2008 at 7pm, the Middletown Artists Coop is proud to host an evening with a very special guest artist, the legendary American composer David Amram. For over fifty years Amram has been an influential force in American music composing symphonic scores, operas, chamber music, and film scores. Having collaborated with some of Jazz's most revered artists, Amram has become a staple in American jazz. Wesleyan University has invited Amram for a residency in early February to perform his latest work, an orchestral ode to Woody Guthrie called Symphonic Variations on a Song By Woody Guthrie (2007). Amram's composition takes the iconic song This Land is Your Land and re-imagines it with vigor and uniqueness. Amram will perform selected short works at the Moose exhibit opening.

The Middletown Artists Coop (MAC) is a private organization that houses and promotes the arts and artists in Middletown. Housed by musicians, filmmakers, painters, sculptures, and actors, MAC is the definitive artistic collective in Connecticut. It's the mission of MAC to bring art and inspiration to Middletown by introducing the community to art and art initiatives. The Moose exhibit is the inaugural installation of the newly reorganized cooperative. Aligning MAC's mission, Moose's artwork, and Amram's music, the exhibit will surely be a memorable experience. We are anticipating a full crowd of art enthusiasts both local and Wesleyan based.
